I am unsure of the meaning of figures depicted sitting on a stool/chair, but tend to believe that they
have similar meaning to the
bateba bambar (paralysed bateba) which are figures depicting a seated
man or woman with their legs stretched out in front of them. According to certain soothsayers, these
protect children and the elderly from paralysis.
