Wooden deity figures with hands raised in supplication adorned primitive bridges and shrines for safe passage at dangerous mountain passes
and the confluence of trails where ghosts and supernatural spirits often congregated.

This figure has a very expressive face and the overall figure has nice symmetry and balance. I especially enjoy the areas of negative space on
the figure as well as the representation of the legs rising up from the large bottom half of the figure terminating at small feet resting on the
circular base. The arms resting on the knees rise up to a delicate point with the hands together in a traditional
namaste position.
