Gourds such as this were mainly used for medicines, ointments, pigments, sacred oils and symbolic substances. Gourds with anthropomorphic stoppers/dippers were sometimes placed on top of a small stool and served as an ancestor figure. I am offering a small stool of this type, click here to see it.
