Ngombe stools / backrests were often referred to as "tip stools" because they are tipped to one side to allow the person to recline their back against it. This nice example has an openwork seat and is incised all over with parallel lines in geometric patterns with brass tacks as ornamentation as is often found on Ngombe objects of this type.
